Non intended revenge on a Realtor This happened in 1998 when I bought my house. After weeks home hunting, one late Sunday I saw an add for an open house in an area I

was very interested because of the excellent school district, so I rushed over, arriving just as the realtor was picking up to go. She reluctantly showed me the place Ina hurry and had me
  • 03
sign her book then rushed me out. The house was within my parameters for price, location and size so I got very interested. Granted I wasn't the ideal buyer, had barely 15% down payment and no loan approved yet. I

had disclosed this to the realtor because I knew some of them work with you to help, yet this one didn't even return my calls, once she mistakenly answered herself

(landlines were tye normal at the time) and she discarded me pretty quick. So after days of trying I decided to contact one other realtor who had been very helpful and he negotiated the deal for me, finding a lender and everything else.

The day of the closing we all land at the lawyers office and guess who is sitting at the table with the contract to be signed, lol. She didn't recognize me right away, but as soon as all the signatures were down I got up from my

chair and told her, hey miss Realtor, do you remember the last person who showed up to the open house and then called you about 10 times to buy this house? She

seemed bafled while started to flush, then I said, my friend here took half your commission because you wouldn't return my calls, have a good life, I walked out and she was furious

Grouchy-Ad4338 - 4 hr. ago Good one. Love it. That bit about half the commission - that must have hit her quite bad. Not only did she lose the commission for the house - someone else made money off of it.

racermd 3 hr. ago . I may be wrong but I believe she was the selling agent that could have been OP's buying agent as well. Cutting out a separate buying agent means she would have earned both the selling AND buying commission

fees. But, by ignoring OP, she forced a separate buying agent into the equation losing out on that part of the commission. She earned half of what she could have if she just gave OP some attention.

doingthehumptydance. 3 hr. ago Nope you are right, she screwed herself out of 50% of her commission and OPS realtor made the quickest buck ever.

NYC-grapms OP. 4 hr. ago To be fair as I said, I wasn't the ideal buyer, yet she was extremely dismissive and the 2 interactions we had she just wouldn't see me as a possible buyer, but you are right, do not judge that book.

MonkeyGriz 2 hr. ago This is just the real estate version of pretty woman. Hi remember me? You work off commission, right? Big mistake... huge!

Miguel4659 2 hr. ago That wasn't petty at all. That was fully called for due to her arrogance and lack of response. Well done!

CommonStrawbeary 1 hr. ago Something similar happened to my parents! They went to look at a house late, and in their gardening clothes cuz they lived down the street.

Realtor was super and they didn't sign the book, just went in looked and left. They bought it shortly afterwards and the realtor got screwed in some way because my parents didn't sign the book.
